Better For Today And Tomorrow

Our Global Impact - Green and growing greener. Wood certified from sustainable forests, Energy Star® appliances included in every Plus and Ultra home and draft reductive construction are just the beginnings of the Shea Green Certified effort. Every one of our employees is encouraged to be a part of the continuous improvement of our green commitment. In fact, we have a cross-discipline steering committee that explores ways to conserve energy and protect the planet through new products and systems in our homes. We’re singularly focused on superior living. In the short run, that translates to using less energy each month and that saves money. In the long run, it means a healthier home that costs less to own. And for the foreseeable future, it means a greener planet.

Built With the Next Generation in Mind - We believe that everyone – and every builder – has a responsibility to protect the environment and to leave a healthy planet for the generations to come. We’re serious about doing our part. For example, not only does our lumber come from sustainable forests whenever possible, but we use 10-15% less wood by employing Optimum Value Engineering when framing our homes. We also recycle construction materials on every job site. Plus, we cut overall water usage by including innovative special features like satellite-controlled irrigation systems and low-flow faucets. In this way, we conserve a precious natural resource and help reduce the urban runoff that can pollute wildlife habitats. The list goes on and on. And still, we endlessly search for new ways to build home with a lower cost of ownership that are in harmony with the environment. Consider it... your grandchildren will.

Performance Guaranteed

11-Point Quality Inspection - Unlike most builders who use multiple managers for the same job, over the five or so months that your new home is being constructed, we assign just one Field Manager to a home to ensure consistency of quality and efficiency — from start to finish. We also don't rely solely on routine quality inspections. Instead, we conduct extensive reviews and actively involve you in the entire process. In total there are 11 quality inspections throughout the construction process to ensure the highest level of quality goes into your new home and your ultimate satisfaction is achieved.

Environments for Living Certified Testing Protocol - An independent 3rd party will test each and every home Shea Green Certified Ultra home for duct tightness, air tightness and pressure balancing. Visual inspections are done for framing, thermal envelope, ventilation and carbon monoxide detection. Duct tightness is measured using a duct test rig. Air tightness and pressure balancing is measured using a blower door test rig.

Heating and Cooling Energy Use Guarante - Certified by Environments for Living all Trilogy Ultra homes come with a written guarantee on energy usage for heating and cooling and for comfort. The energy used to heat and cool your home will not exceed a predetermined usage listed on your new home’s guarantee at time of purchase. This is more than just paperwork, its real peace of mind.

Comfort Guarantee - The temperature at the location of the thermostat in the homes will not vary more than +/- 3 degrees from the temperature at the center of any conditioned room within the thermostat’s zone.

Talk about standing behind our commitment to high performance construction!

Once you are in your new home, we want you to stay happy and enjoy it. Who wants contractors coming in and out of your home tracking in dust and disrupting your quality of life? All Shea Green Certified homes are built from the get go with all the great money saving features. You never have to worry about figuring out which feature you’d like to add after the fact. You won’t need to track down contractors and negotiate the best price. You can go about your life without having to stick around your house while a contractor does their work. We’ve taken your satisfaction very seriously. All the green goodies are included up front.

Best of all, we offer three different Shea Green Certified home levels (Complete, Plus and Ultra) that make purchasing a high performance home easier than ever. You simply choose the level of performance and only pay for the features you want!

Here are some of the key products that make our new homes top performers:

Solar Power System - Integrating the latest technology, our new Ultra series homes come equipped with 3kW rooftop solar systems that provide clean, renewable energy that saves you money.

Blow-in Insulation - Blown-in cellulose wall insulation makes it easy to maintain a low energy bill and a high level of comfort in your new home. Filling in each and every gap, this cellulose, high-performing insulation acts as a complete floor-to-ceiling thermal blanket around your home.

Low Flow Faucets, Shower Heads and Toilets - Maximize water pressure while minimizing water usage – our new homes come with low flow fixtures and toilets that actually work!

Mastic Sealed Ducts - Every air duct is sealed tight to ensure that our highly efficient HVAC units operate at their best to deliver your cleanest air at your desired temperature.

Vinyl, Low-E, Dual Pane Windows - From superior thermal resistance and durability to providing unparalleled protection from UV-rays and guarding your household items against sun damage — after a day of living with low-emittance windows in your new home, you'll wonder how you lived so long without them.

Energy Star® Appliances - We make it virtually effortless for you to save energy and water in a variety of ways every day. The Energy Star® appliances in our Plus and Ultra homes are 40% more efficient than federal standards. Our refrigerators, washers and dishwashers are specifically designed and certified to use less energy and/or water during operation. This not only reduces your energy costs, but it also lowers your carbon footprint, the annual amount of carbon dioxide you add to the environment.

Solar Attic Fans - Proper venting is a critical element of energy efficiency that extends all the way up to the attic. Trilogy Plus and Ultra homes are equipped with solar-powered attic fans, designed to ease the load on your cooling system, increase fresh-air circulation, reduce moisture build up and even extend the life of your roof by keeping it cool. *Not available at Trilogy at Vistancia or Encanterra Country Club

WeatherTRAK® - Our high-tech system automatically schedules and adjusts watering based on local weather conditions and the needs of your specific landscape. Each system communicates directly with 17,000 weather stations to adjust automatically and save approximately 13,500 gallons of water per home per year.

CFL Bulbs - 50% of the hard-wired lights in the home use CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lights) bulbs, which use 75% less energy than a standard incandescent bulb.

Digital Programmable Thermostat - An easy way to save money while creating an automatic heating and cooling program that fits your life's schedule. And you won't just receive a thick manual to do it yourself, you'll get hands-on, personal training.

Dimmer Switches and Occupancy Sensor Switches - Other builders may overlook the importance of small devices such as dimmer switches, motion-sensitive lights and energy-efficient light bulbs. We know that even the smallest details can have a big impact on the cost of your electric bill and your quality of life. Now you can control the intensity of light in your rooms while some lights automatically turn on/off when you enter the room.

Air Conditioning System - We always aim for peak energy efficiency so we can pass greater energy savings on to you. That's why we use the 14-SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) system that offers superior energy efficiency and lowers electric bills by more than 40% as compared to other systems.

Beyond Shea Green Certified

Fresh Air Systems - Superior indoor ventilation is about energy efficiency and air quality. Our fresh-air ventilation system does more than balance air flow to maintain a consistent temperature throughout your home. It also provides fully programmable control so you can take advantage of additional, off-peak savings. Many homes still rely on outdated, inefficient systems designed as far back as the 1970s. By contrast, our homes use cutting-edge technology that maintains a consistent air balance and temperature and filters the air to reduce dust and toxins.

Certified Wood from Sustainable Forests - We use certified wood from sustainable forests for framing and cabinetry whenever possible. This is one of many reasons we're among the select group of builders that help lessen the depletion of old-growth forests. Where does the wood in your home come from? If you own a Shea home, you'll know that whenever possible, the wood used in your home is certified from tree farms that are being renewed and aren't in danger of depletion.

Lumber Conservation - Starting with the engineering principles they're built on, our new homes are designed to preserve our precious natural resources. Even our framing is eco-friendlier. That's because we use Optimal Value Engineering to conserve the use of lumber by including only essential, structural elements. Unlike many builders, our homes are stamped by a structural engineer and designed to use less wood than traditional framing without compromising structural integrity.

Construction Material Recycling Program - Recycling construction materials helps reduce stress on landfills and preserve natural resources. Our team and TradePartners® are committed to recycling on the job — from wood and drywall to cardboard boxes and cartons. Most builders don't incorporate a recycling program for construction materials. For our teams and TradePartners recycling is a critical part of the home-building process.

Resource conservation calculations were made in good faith based on a two person household living in their home full-time and were verified through a neutral third party resource. All data and subsequent claims will vary by home, floor plan, and location. Features and specifications vary by community and home site. Not all features available on all homes. Feature comparisons based on information deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Energy savings are calculated by aggregating the estimated energy savings that may be realized by homeowners who install energy efficient features in their homes. The estimates have been obtained from the EPA, other government agencies, utilities and manufacturers.
