Sawã Spa

Calming aromatherapy permeates the air here, beginning the emergence into total tranquility. The 5,000 sq. ft. spa honors the elements of heat, water and stone by using them in creative and elegant ways, meeting - and surpassing - today’s lifestyle spa trends. The perfect place to spend a day of self indulgence or a Girls Day Out for you and your friends!

The Sawã Spa has four treatment rooms with adjacent outdoor patios, private Men’s and Ladies’ Lounges with a steam shower, and an outdoor private salt water spa and garden retreat. An additional room is provided for manicures and pedicures.

The center of the treatment rooms, or the Weeya (meaning sacred ritual), is quiet yet visually engaging with its artistic water feature centerpiece. The sense of place and history is palpable as is the sacredness of Mother Earth and her gifts. The spa concept is supplemented by healing plants (grapes, aromatherapy, oils, scrubs, tinctures, infusions, etc.) used by the natives, as well as vinotherapy.

History & Inspiration

Trilogy at The Vineyards’ history began with the birth of the famous pioneer John Marsh in 1799 in South Danvers, Massachusetts. The tale of his journey out West is one of the most interesting pioneer stories in U.S. History and one that inspired aspects of the Club’s design.

After attending Harvard Medical School and although he never officially earned his medical degree, Marsh settled in southern California to practice medicine. After closing the medical practice in 1836, Marsh traded his tallow, hides and furs to a local merchant for $500 and rode North along the El Camino Real, searching for suitable homestead land. When he reached Cerro Alto de los Bolbones (today known as Mount Diablo), Marsh seemed to find something worth settling down for. Here, he met his future bride, Abigail “Abby” Tuck.

In 1837, John and Abby were married. Using his $500 they purchased Rancho Los Meganos that was situated on a land tract measuring twelve miles by ten miles, working out to a princely sum of 6.5¢ an acre. Employing members of the local Miwok tribe, Marsh built a small, one-story adobe that was divided into four large rooms. It had a large attic, earthen floors and a fireplace in the main room where Marsh read each evening by firelight. To either side of the front door were benches where they enjoyed sitting during the long summer twilights. It was one of the most isolated spots in Mexican California, but Marsh -- with his rich experience of frontier living -- felt comfortable and, finally, at home. The Marsh homestead became a place of hospitality and path to a network of opportunities that over the years enabled hundreds of other pioneers to successfully settle in northern California. Today, their house still stands adjacent to our community.

Trilogy at The Vineyards continues John and Abby’s vision, passion, energy and shares it all over again in Club Los Meganos. Here, the spirit of the past is fabulously appointed with modern technologies and conveniences providing Members with endless opportunities for enjoyment and social connections.
